LECOM Wi-Fi Policy/Procedure

How LECOM gets on SHU without having to re-register every 3 days.

Overview

LECOM users should connect to SHU. Depending on their operating system and browser, they will either get a popup or get redirected to our portal. They should register as a guest with a proper lecom email address(this is key).
1. At the beginning of each academic year(each year in early July we need to get a date here and put on sysnet calendar) SHU/Guest will have open registration for 10 (change portal registration to 0) days.
2. Middle of the year registrations(e.g. someone gets a new laptop or cellphone) will be handled with an automated email to our ticketing system with a 3 day SLA.
All devices with a lecom email address will be added to a group("LECOM") that allows them on SHU for the rest of the academic year.
This group will get cleaned out at the end of each May(each year in early May we need to get a date here and put on sysnet calendar) with summer registrations being added to the group with the assumption that they will be here in the upcoming year.
